Who we are
The Adult Dietetic Service is a team of health care professionals who are trained to provide advice and counselling about diet, food and nutrition. Dietitians can help people make food choices to promote nutritional well-being and develop meal plans to prevent and treat nutrition related problems. The team also provide practical, safe advice, based on current scientific evidence.
What we do
Our dietitians support individuals, families and carers providing tailored dietary counselling sessions or group education including motivational techniques.
They offer guidance on food provision and advise on the use of prescribed nutritional products to help treat malnutrition and on managing tube feeding at home.
The service is a specialist resource providing information and training for other health and social care professionals to enable other them to promote best nutritional care.

- Diabetes (see Diabetes Smart)
- Impaired Glucose Regulation (IGR) (see Diabetes Smart)
- Malnutrition/unintentional weight loss
- Swallowing problems resulting in stroke, cancer, Parkinson’s Disease, Motor Neurone Disease or mental health problems e.g Dementia
- Weight management and Bariatrics
- Respiratory disease
- Food allergies/intolerances
- Low FODMAP diet
- Bowel conditions e.g. IBS
- Palliative care
- Management of enteral tube feedings including tube troubleshooting and replacement of gastrostomy tubes
How to access the service
Referrals are accepted from GPs and all health and social care professionals using the following referral form.
