On Friday evening, 25 October 2024, Wirral Community Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust (WCHC) welcomed over 350 colleagues, partners and sponsors to celebrate and recognise the amazing work of teams across the Trust, with the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Liverpool as the sparkling backdrop for this special occasion.
Hosted by Interim Chief Executive Mark Greatrex, in an exciting change from the usual celebrity compere, colleagues from across the Trust joined Mark on stage to present each award in true Oscar’s style!
It was a fantastic evening celebrating and recognising the outstanding care, treatment and support that the Trust delivers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year in the communities across Cheshire and Merseyside.
The awards opened with Excellence in Care which was won by School Nurse, Hannah Short. Hannah was recognised for the nurturing care and compassion she provided to the young people involved in the M53 incident in September 2023.
Next in line was Excellence in Learning which was won by Katy Fisher. Katy had achieved distinction in her Level 7 Senior Leadership Apprenticeship Programme and has continually championed learning for staff and students across the Trust.
Tissue Viability Nurse Gemma Tutill picked up our Excellence in Quality Improvement award, sponsored by Lenovo, for her work to improve access to tissue viability training resulting in safer delivery of care for the people of Wirral.
Excellence in Leadership went to our Service Lead for Urgent and Primary Care, Alison Hunt whose open leadership style ensured equality of opportunity for all urgent care nurses and encouraged them to strive for excellence.
David Williamson-Draper, Nurse Associate in the 0-19+ service won Excellence in Inclusion for his work supporting families in understanding the challenges men face when becoming a parent and helping them feel more included. And Urgent Care Lead, Amie Cavanagh-Williams was delighted to win Excellence in Partnership Working sponsored by Eric Wright Facilities Management, following her collaborative work with Wirral University Teaching Hospital.
Two teams picked up the Team of the Year award due to the high standard of nominations. Both the Neurodevelopmental Team and Walk-in Centre Nurses walked away with this sought-after title!
Our Unsung Hero award went to Community Nurse, Tiffany Williams who supported the community nursing teams with the administration of IV antibiotics, often helping three or more teams out in one day.
This year’s Chair and Chief Executive award which recognised the extraordinary effort and achievement of an individual or team was awarded to the Digital ICT Team.
The final and most coveted award of the evening, the People’s Choice Award, sponsored by BT was won by Community Cardiology.
It was a magnificent evening celebrating the amazing work that goes on at Team WCHC and thanking those who achieved Long Service Awards for 25 and 40 years dedication to the NHS.
