Sexual Health Wirral is supporting national HIV Testing Week, a nationwide campaign to encourage testing and help reduce transmission rates of HIV. HIV can affect all ages, genders, ethnicities and sexualities and a large number of new HIV infections come from unprotected sex with someone who isn’t aware they have HIV.
Testing regularly is important to knowing your HIV status, allowing appropriate care and treatment to begin as early as possible.
The team is encouraging anyone, regardless of their age, gender, sexuality or ethnicity, who hasn’t had an HIV test to take a test. Testing for HIV is quick and free, confidential and easy. Even if you’ve had a test but have changed your sexual partner it’s important to take another test.
Millie Williams, Service Development Coordinator, Sexual Health Wirral, said;
