On Wednesday evening, 5 October 2022, Wirral Community Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust (WCHC) welcomed nearly 300 colleagues, partners and sponsors to celebrate and recognise the amazing work of the teams across the Trust.
The Pavilion Suite at Chester Racecourse was the backdrop for this special occasion, the first in-person staff awards since 2019. It was a fantastic evening celebrating and recognising the outstanding care, treatment and support that the Trust delivers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year across Cheshire and Merseyside.
BBC North West Tonight’s Roger Johnson led the evening’s awards with style and said: “Congratulations to all involved in organising the event and to all the winners and nominees. It was an inspiring evening and my privilege to meet so many special people.”
The awards opened with Excellence in Care which was won by our nMabs service whose specialist nursing team had transformed care for Covid-19 patients at home. Our community cardiology team won Excellence in Inclusion after receiving fantastic feedback from patients and our community nurses were in the spotlight again by winning our Excellence in Quality Improvement award.
The 0-19 Birkenhead team were delighted to win the Excellence in Wellbeing award as were the Communications and Marketing team who picked up Excellence in Partnership.
Three individual awards went to physiotherapist, Jenna Brassington who wowed guests with her commitment to learning and there were huge cheers for Quality Lead, Jen De Ornellas who won Excellence in Leadership. WUTH Pharmacist, Jeff Wilson was a popular choice for Unsung Hero, and the HIVE Youth Zone & NHS Cadets celebrated their win of System Partner award.
This year there were two Chair and Chief Executive awards which recognised the extraordinary effort and achievement of an individual or team. This year’s winners were the Procurement Team and the Community Intermediate Care Centre.
The final and most coveted award of the evening, the People’s Choice Award was won by Denise King, Clinical Lead, Children’s Dietitian.
It was a magnificent evening celebrating the amazing work that goes on at Team WCHC and thanking those who achieved Long Service Awards for 25 years dedication to the NHS.
The event would not have been possible without the kind generosity of all our category sponsors – Convatec, Eric Wright Construction, Hill Dickinson, Lexacom, Lenovo, Logex Healthcare Analytics, Sudlows, and our supporting sponsors ECG on-demand, LT Print, MBF Pace and RL-Datix.
