Our Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Service is a specialist service supporting children and young people aged 0-19 with speech, language and communication needs. Support is also given to children and young people with eating and drinking disorders.
Young people aged 19-25 are also supported with education, health and care plans.
Our team provides assessment, diagnosis and treatment for children and young people with:
- language and communication needs (including developmental language disorder)
- specific difficulties in producing speech sounds
- hearing impairment
- stammering
- dysphagia (difficulties with eating and drinking)
- AAC (finding non-speaking or semi speaking alternatives and/or augmentative means for communicating)
- voice disorders
We offer appointments in a variety of ways allowing children, young people, and their families to have the support they need in a way that suits them. This may be via:
- Face to face appointments in clinics, school or nursery settings or the family home .
- Remote video monitoring (a way for families to share videos and progress updates via a safe video sharing system)
- Video calls
- Telephone calls
- Parent / carer coaching sessions
