13-19 October 2024 is International Infection Prevention Week. The week aims to shine a light on infection prevention and remind us of the fundamentals for effective infection prevention and the role we play in keeping the public safe and healthy.
The fundamentals of infection prevention are:
- Hand hygiene
- Cleaning and disinfection
- Vaccination
- Personal protective equipment
- Respiratory hygiene (catch it, bin it, kill it)
- Injection safety
The Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Team will be busy sharing information and offering support throughout the week.
The team has produced a set of slides containing key IPC messages for display on TV screens in patient waiting areas.
